Annual meeting of the German Society for Matrix Biology

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us to the Annual Meeting of the German Society for Matrix Biology in Heidelberg, Germany from the 15th to the 17th of April 2026! The meeting will take place at the Orthopaedic clinic in Schlierbach, Heidelberg. 

With its picturesque old town and stunning castle ruins, Heidelberg offers the perfect setting for this international gathering. Nestled in the heart of the Neckar valley, the city’s rich history, cultural landmarks, and natural beauty create an inspiring atmosphere for scientific discovery, collaboration, and networking.

For our early career researcher event on the 14th of April, we will be teaming up with the EU-MSCA-student network CHANGE. This unique collaboration promises to bring together young researchers from across Europe with experts in our field, fostering an atmosphere for dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences.

Our event will feature an engaging program with renowned speakers from across Europe, as well as selected presentations from submitted abstracts. It will be an exceptional opportunity to advance our field and foster new collaborations. We look forward to welcoming you to Heidelberg for what promises to be an unforgettable scientific event!

How to get here

We highly recommend taking public transport from Heidelberg town centre or the Central Station!

• From Heidelberg Central Station (Hauptbahnhof):
  Take S-Bahn line S1, S2, or S7 in the direction of Osterburken, Mosbach, or Sinsheim/Eppingen/Bad Rappenau/Aglasterhausen.
  Get off at Heidelberg Orthopädie (4th stop, approx. 15 minutes).

• From Mannheim Central Station:
  Take S1 or S2 in the direction of Osterburken or Mosbach.
  Get off at HD-Orthopädie.

• From Heidelberg Town Centre (Bismarckplatz):
  Take Bus 35 (Neckargemünd Bildungszentrum),
  or Bus 735 (Eiterbach), 752 (Mückenloch), 754 (Reichartshausen/Lobenfeld Neurott)
  to Schlierbach Orthopädische Klinik.

• From Heidelberg Old Town (Altstadt):
  You can take any of the S-Bahn lines or buses listed above.

Eligibility for junior fees: Students and young researchers up to 5 years after completion of their PhD.

The young researcher pre-meeting this year is a joint event with the EU-MSCA doctoral network CHANGE and includes sessions with academic and industry scientists on the afternoon of the 14^th April, as well as a morning session on 15^th April. This pre-meeting is open for juniors and those who feel like juniors.

Please ensure to complete payment at the payment site. Registration is only accepted after successful payment. It will take 2-14 days to confirm payment with SEPA. You will receive the PDF of the post-payment invoice once payment is confirmed.

All submitted abstracts are accepted for poster presentation. In addition, short oral presentations (10 min + 5 min discussion) will be selected from the submitted abstracts by a scientific committee.

You will receive a confirmation email upon successful submission.

Several Prizes will be given for best presentations. Prize money will be doubled for members of the DGMB.
